Catherine Stone ’22 came to ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½Èë¿Ú excited about the small classes, the close relationships with faculty, and the powerful student voice. She quickly became involved in the community and with ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½Èë¿Ú Concerts. While working her way toward medical school, she has also immersed herself in the environment through ecology courses, and in language and culture through French courses.
ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½Èë¿Ú has been awarded a $150,000 grant from the William Randolph Hearst Foundations to expand its efforts in recruiting and supporting transfer students from both two- and four-year institutions.
When Sophie Jackson ’22 visited ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½Èë¿Ú, she was enamored by the diversity, authenticity, and openness of the students she interacted with. Those interactions continued throughout her four years and developed into friendships and relationships that she will continue to value after graduation. She similarly valued her experiences with service, research, advocacy, the Rosenfield Program, internships, externships, study abroad, and getting to know ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½Èë¿Ú.
Ahon Gooptu’s (’21) passion for theater and care for community took him from Kolkata, India to ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½Èë¿Ú — and then to London, New York, Seattle, San Francisco, and more! Along the way, he studied Shakespeare, discovered the power of digital storytelling, and completed mentored research projects.
Lex Baumann ’22 was focused on urban colleges until she visited ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½Èë¿Ú and fell in love. Since arriving, she has job-shadowed a lawyer in Miami, served as a community advisor (CA), changed her major, and much more. Next up: law school applications.
Matas Maksimaitis ’23 engaged in rigorous self-examination and self-discovery at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½Èë¿Ú. From his philosophy classes and research to his Wells Fargo internship in North Carolina, he found himself in multiple angles!
MJ Uzzi ’23 fell in love with ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½Èë¿Ú’s community visiting and beyond, even during pandemic. She engaged with politics, studied abroad in Sweden, and majored in economics!

Katie Goodall ’23 made lots of friends her first year by being brave. Later on, she pursued theater opportunities at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½Èë¿Ú, interned with the College Garden, and lived together with her friends in Colorado.

Students experience random acts of kindness around the town here, and there are myriad opportunities to participate and find a seat at the table as active and engaged citizens.

Many students come from very different backgrounds than my own, and it has been fascinating to hear about their lives and share about mine with them. Despite our differences, I’m always able to find wonderful similarities.
