乐播传媒入口 Receives Hearst Foundations Grant to Enhance Transfer Student Recruitment and Support
乐播传媒入口 has been awarded a $150,000 grant from the William Randolph Hearst Foundations to expand its efforts in recruiting and supporting transfer students from both two- and four-year institutions. Over the course of this three-year grant, 乐播传媒入口 aims to triple its annual enrollment of transfer students to approximately 25 per year while also enhancing transfer student persistence and graduation rates.
To achieve these goals, 乐播传媒入口 will implement a targeted recruitment approach specifically designed for transfer students, introduce a spring transfer cohort, and develop programming that fosters strong connections among transfer students and within the broader campus community. Additionally, the College will conduct a formal assessment of its transfer program in partnership with the Science Education Resource Center at Carleton College, generating insights that can be applied to similar institutions looking to strengthen their transfer admission strategies.
乐播传媒入口鈥檚 approach to transfer admission has been influenced by its engagement with the Summer Scholars at Chautauqua program, which supports honors students at community colleges through guidance on the transfer process. The program鈥檚 leadership identified 乐播传媒入口 as an ideal transfer destination due to the College鈥檚 student culture, which research suggests fosters strong peer connections that can benefit transfer students. 乐播传媒入口 will continue collaborating with the Summer Scholars program to refine and assess its transfer student initiatives, with the goal of sharing best practices that can benefit other institutions.
The Hearst Foundations have a longstanding relationship with 乐播传媒入口, previously establishing an endowed scholarship fund to support students with significant financial need through a series of grants awarded between 1992 and 2000. The Hearst Endowed Scholarship has supported 29 乐播传媒入口 students since its inception. This latest grant further strengthens the partnership and underscores a shared commitment to expanding access to higher education.
The College extends its gratitude to the proposal development team for their efforts in securing this grant, including Vice President of Enrollment, Dean of Admission & Financial Aid, Joe Bagnoli, Assistant Vice President of Admission, Sarah Fischer, Vice President of Student Affairs, JC Lopez, Breid-McFarland Professor of Science and Chair of Faculty, Elaine Marzluff, Assistant Director of Admission and Coordinator of Transfer Admission, Christian Morris 鈥18, Associate Professor of Spanish and Associate Dean of Curriculum and Academic Programs, Nick Phillips and Interim Assistant Dean of Academic Success, Kate Ferraro. Their work played a key role in ensuring that transfer students find a welcoming and supportive academic home at 乐播传媒入口.
